Sven B. Schreiber (sbs) Parts of this album sound a lot like Frank Zappa, whe sounded like Edgar Varèse - and that's a sound I love! Apart from that, it's generally an instance of breathtaking contemporary chamber music, with lots of experimental excursions into avantgarde territory. If I could, I'd mark all 15 parts of "The Cribbage Variations" as my favorite tracks. Unable to do so, I chose part XIII, which appears to be a Bach-inspired fugue, as a representative. Favorite track: The Cribbage Variations - IV. Mid-December Winds.

The Trout Mask Replica for the 21st Century. Which is quite apt as Opperman is a Captain Beefheart fan.
Just like TMR it took me a while to get in to it and like it.
I had previously bought his track And If You Know and had made contact with him, either through this app or Facebook. He joined a Captain Beefheart Facebook group that I belong to.
Check out And If You Know, Opperman's collaboration with Zappa Band's Robert Martin. Here's hoping for more from the talented Chris Opperman. Brilliant. Favorite track: The Black Ball.
